1901 printing: 19.6 x 13.7 cm. The volume is bound in bluish-tan cloth, with the title, author, and an engraving of the tramp/protagonist in brown on the front cover, and with the title, author, and publisher in brown on the spine. The front bound endpaper bears a typed sheet identifying the residents of East Aurora, N.Y. who posed for the book's illustrations; the front free endpaper bears the ownership note in pencil, "Ralph Hubbard, Elbert, Colorado," and the dedication note in blue ink, "To Robert L. Voltz, with my good wishes, Elbert Hubbard II, 9/17/65; Memo: My brother Ralph (his sig. above) used to own this book. EHII." The frontispiece is a photogravure, as are the 27 other illustrations, and is protected by a tissue sheet. The title page has the title, author, edition, publisher, printer, and date and places of publication; its verso contains copyright data.
