Booklist Review

At 32, Erin is sure this is going to be the year in which she meets the perfect man and gets the promotion she's hankering after. When she spots dashing Doug Spears, Erin is convinced she has found the guy, until she spies his wedding ring. But Erin is smitten anyway, and having to work with Doug doesn't make things any easier. When she begins seeing him, her friends express their disapproval. Not that Erin always approves of their choices--Joanne and Maggie both avoid commitment, and Abby is dating Erin's newly divorced father! Though Doug refuses even to set foot in her apartment, Erin holds out hope that he will leave his wife and eventually settle down with her. Erin can be annoyingly obtuse; however, she gradually starts to realize that it's unlikely Doug will give her everything she wants. Fans of Sex in the City will enjoy the women's romantic escapades and appreciate the roundtable discussions these gals have about the trials and tribulations singletons face. --Kristine Huntley
