Local Note:
The printer's imprint is absent. The volume is quarter-bound in black cloth over light blue boards. The title, author, and publisher are in black on a gold label affixed to the spine. The front cover reproduces in black ink a woodcut by Lester Ralph; the back cover is blank. The endpapers are of plain green paper; the right front one bears the dedication line in black ink, "To Margaret to Bill." The half-title page verso reproduces a manuscript note by the author. The frontispiece is in black ink on smooth machined paper, now somewhat brittle. The title page has the full title, author, illustrators, publisher, publisher's logo, and place of publication. Its verso has copyright data. Each left-hand page with an illustration is paired with a right-hand page with text.
