Local Note:
First edition: 24.5 x 30.3 cm. The printer's imprints, "Colour plates printed by Henry Stone & Son Ltd., Banbury, England," and "Text printed by 'Haoman' Press, Jerusalem," are in colophons in Hebrew and in English on facing pages at the end of the text. The volume is stitched in hand-tooled black leather. The front cover is gently beveled along the outer edges, and has a hand-made copper plate (6 x 11.2 cm.) inlaid in its center, with a border, caption, and the cover title in Hebrew stamped in gilt. The endpapers are in a brown and tan pattern. The flyleaves and text pages are of high-quality white paper, and read from right to left in accordance with the Hebrew alphabet. The frontispiece is a full-color plate (18 x 14.4 cm.) depicting Esther and Mordecai, mounted and protected by a full-page sheet of vellum. The title page contains the title, illustrator, publisher, and place of publication. The Hebrew text is contained in ten full-color plates (16.4 x 20 cm.) illustrating the events described, each with the illustrator's name at the bottom and protected by a full-page sheet of vellum. The English text, on each facing page, is the Authorized (King James) translation.
