First edition: 1-4¹² 5⁴; [1]-48 49-52; 18 x 12.4 cm. The printer's imprint, "ÉVREUX, IMPRIMERIE DE CHARLES HÉRISSEY," is at the bottom of the last text page (p. 52). The volume has been rebound in brown cloth over boards with the title, author, and letters "B.P.L." stamped in gilt on the spine, which also bears a white label with a Dewey decimal number. The endpapers are in a pattern of brown on white; the left front endpaper bears a Buffalo Public Library ownership sticker, while the right rear one bears a BPL check-out card in its pocket. The title page has the title, author, an engraved illustration, publisher, and date and place of publication; the title page verso is blank. The text pages are on white Van Gelder paper; some of them have a watermark design featuring a fleur-de-lis, and some bear the handstamp, "Buffalo Library," in purple ink.
