First edition: [A]⁶ B-K²⁴ L⁴; [i]-vi [5]-220 221-222+flyleaf; 15 x 10 cm. The printer's imprint, "London: Printed by W. CLOWES and SONS, Stamford Street," is at the bottom of the title page verso and at the bottom of the last page of text (p. 222). The volume was originally half-bound in maroon morocco over boards marbled in green, olive, and red, and has been rebound (quarter-bound) in maroon cloth, with the title and author hand-printed in black ink on the spine; both covers are blank. The endpapers are granite-grained in tan and blue; the left front endpaper bears the ownership sticker of the Young Men's Association of Buffalo, New York, and the right rear endpaper bears a check-out card pocket. The title page has the title, author, publisher, and date and place of publication. The text pages are of plain white paper, and are slightly foxed. There is a single rear flyleaf of plain white paper.
