The printer's imprint, "Aldershot: Printed by GALE & POLDEN, LTD., Wellington Works, 1909," is on the title page verso; a second imprint, "GALE & POLDEN, LTD., Wellington Works, Aldershot," is at the bottom of the last page of text (p. 178). The volume is bound in plastic-coated red cloth over paper, with the title, series, author, edition, publisher's signature logo, place of publication, and price on the front cover. The spine has the half-title in capitals running from bottom to top, and the back cover has the printer's trademark. The endpapers are pink and filled with advertising for the publisher's other military publications. The frontispiece has excerpts from newspaper reviews of the book. The title page is similar to the front cover, but for including the full addresses of the publisher, and bears the punched-out stencil, "BUFFALO PUBLIC LIBRARY." The title page verso has copyright data at its bottom. Facing the last text page is a foldout (21 x 36 cm.) with diagrams, "Patrolling Formation for Reconnoitring, or Advanced Guard, or Outposts, Etc."
