School Library Journal Review

Gr 1-3-A beginning chapter book with a theme that will attract early readers. Robbie is chubby and Ronnie is thin, but they don't care-they're still best friends. Every Wednesday they go to the local swimming pool. One day, a bully who often picks on them is there. Youngsters will appreciate how they handle the situation and the manner in which the bully gets his comeuppance. The subplot, which shows the value of honesty, is an added bonus. The short sentences and large print make the story ideal for reluctant readers. Dematons's full- and half-page full-color illustrations showing a range of neighborhood figures help make this a story with which all readers can identify. An excellent choice for addressing a common problem.-Jean Lowery, Bishop Woods Elementary School, New Haven, CT (c) Copyright 2010.
