School Library Journal Review

Gr 7 Up-Information about the koala's behavior and natural habitat is included, but the emphasis of this book is on measures to protect the animals and to preserve their environment. The contradictory scenarios of the status of koalas are also discussed-some areas of Australia are experiencing overpopulation while others are seeing reduced numbers due to human activity. This is a well-researched presentation with an extensive bibliography and contact information for related organizations. Black-and-white photographs, maps, and reproductions are bland in appearance but do effectively illustrate the subject matter.-Cynthia M. Sturgis, Ledding Library, Milwaukie, OR (c) Copyright 2010.
