Summary

Summary

Explores ideas for hoarding with style and gives the casualties of minimalism the confidence to adapt their home to house antiques, family heirlooms, books, fripperies and other objects. Topics covered in this title include colour, dining, personal effect, and interests. The severe minimalism of the 20th century is over - it's time to let your home reflect you yourself and not the imposed desires of an over-trendy designer living in a box in another world.

Library Journal Review

The idea for this book came from a design exhibition on antiminimalism at the Crafts Council in London. Described as "not a `how-to' but a `why-to' " examination of the need for excess in interiors, this book discusses how color, materials, nostalgia, and personal heirlooms and collections are used to create interiors that reflect an individual's style. Numerous color photographs illuminate her observations. Each section concludes with a look at homes that exemplify particular design aspects. Similar to Christy Ferer's Breaking the Rules, this book is recommended for large interior design collections. (c) Copyright 2010.
