Library Journal Review

Compiled by the Ad Hoc Committee on the Test Collection Directory, Education and Behavioral Sciences Section, ACRL, this directory presents the results of a systematic survey of library test collections available to researchers and practitioners. Entries are arranged by state and include contact information, collection size, contents (subject strengths), and access/use policies. Appendixes include the survey's cover letter and questionnaire, charts and graphs on the management and usage of test collections, and several indexes that offer additional access to collection listings. Choice Review

Locating psychological and educational tests for research and review is difficult for professionals in psychology, counseling, and education. Tests can be expensive, and many publishers place restrictions on accessibility and use. This directory of test collections includes repositories that do not restrict access to collections to readers affiliated with the parent institution. Collections are arranged by state and indexed in a number of ways. Also included are lists of institutions that make available searchable indexes of their test collections, institutions that own historical collections of tests, collections arranged by collection size, collections organized by who may access them, and collections by collection strength. Information about each test collection notes the mailing address, contact person, telephone number, Internet address (where available), and a description of the collection. A unique and essential resource for academic and special libraries that serve professionals and students in psychology, counseling, and education. M. Sylvia St. Mary's University
