Summary

The first story in this collection of short stories is told by a man who decides to murder his freeloading business partner, Christopher Fairfax. A junior partner in his company, Fairfax was sent to work in their Trinidad practice, where he was made a senior partner for tax purposes. There, he lived on company money - even charging them for his drinks. Fairfax's partner decided that the annual carnival - with its accompanying loud music and laughter - would be the perfect time to dispose of him.
