Library Journal Review

In this day of consumerism, managed care, and malpractice, there is a plethora of information, much of it incomplete, on how to get the best medical care for yourself and your family. It is refreshing to find a source of practical information on how to proceed through the medical maze. This book offers a logical approach to physician selection, patient rights, and a wealth of other topics covering all age groups. Each chapter offers annotated lists of support organizations and publications, with current pricing, Internet addresses, and phone numbers. Throughout, the consumer is advised to do basic research, using database searches (on Medline, for instance) and print resources commonly available in public and hospital libraries. This should become a popular resource in any public, hospital, or academic library's consumer health collection.¬ĎMindy Paquette-Murphy, Sanofi Pharmaceuticals, Malvern, PA (c) Copyright 2010.
