School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 2-This CD is a companion to the video series. Most of the 20 tunes have a bouncy rock beat and involve some kind of movement activities for listeners to perform. "Dragon Tales Theme" tells how Emmy made a wish on a dragon scale and three (four?) dragons appeared: Ord, Cassie, and the two-headed dragon Zak and Wheezie. "Wake Up" has a touch of zydeco sound as the song exhorts listeners to get up on their feet. "Stretch," "Shake Your Dragon Tale," "Betcha Can," "Doodli-Do," "Touch," and "Wiggle Song" all encourage listeners to perform a variety of movements, such as touching toes or stomping feet. "Zoo" urges listeners to copy the movements and behaviors of zoo animals such as chimpanzees, kangaroos, elephants, and giraffes. "Ord Shuffle" has a swing sound for its dance tune. "Cassie," with a soft 60's rock sound, describes the shy little dragon. A number of these songs are under two minutes, and many would be useful for movement activities in a storytime or other library program. The vocals and instrumentals are professional and accomplished. Fans of the video series will be delighted by this CD.-Beverly Bixler, San Antonio Public Library, TX (c) Copyright 2010.
