Summary

Summary

The story of Buffalo's glorious moment, recounted in 160 pages and more than 200 images. The Rainbow City revisits the Pan-Am, revealing the ambitious color and architectural scheme that symbolically celebrated the progress of civilization. Written by Kerry S. Grant of the University at Buffalo, The Rainbow City offers a revealing glimpse of an era when Buffalo was the eighth largest city in the U.S. Designed by national award-winning designer David Buck, the book includes recently restored paintings by John Ross Key, color renderings of the Exposition and original advertisements and paraphernalia. Published by Canisius College Press, The Rainbow City includes an introduction by William H. Seiner of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.
