School Library Journal Review

Gr 4-6-From the Trung sisters, two Vietnamese warrior queens who led their people into battle, to fashion-designer Coco Chanel to rock-climber Lynn Hill, all of the women introduced here were inspired to "rock the world" and make a change in someone's life. The 30 subjects hail from many different countries and time periods and represent a variety of achievements. According to the introduction, most of them started to pursue their dreams before reaching their 21st birthday. Each brief biography opens with a black-and-white photo or drawing and is followed by a young woman answering the question, "How Will You Rock the World?" Readers are encouraged to submit their own dreams and photos to be included in future books. Like the first volume by Amelie Welden (Beyond Words, 1998), this book is a good starting point for choosing a report topic and for engaging the interest of nonreaders.-Kathleen A.
