On Order

THE DECORATED HOME features all the inspiration and instruction home decorators need to transform the look of every room. More than 27 step-by-step painting techniques illustrate a range of imaginative effects for use on walls, moldings, doors, floors, furniture, and even curtains and accessories. The first chapter focuses primarily on decorating walls, with techniques for stamping, combing, freehand and graffitipatterns. Readers can then choose from a variety of special effects that give surfaces the appearance of leather, malachite, marble, lapis lazuli and more. This complete guide also features projects that put the finishing touches on a room, from stenciled tables and trays to weathered statues and planters. Large full-color beauty shots and detailed steps make every project easy to execute, and just for beginners, this book also includes a chapter on basic materials, painting techniques and surface preparation.

Reviews 1

Library Journal Review

These two books, full of photographs, will give the amateur and experienced decorative painter a wealth of ideas for using decorative paint techniques and color to decorate the home. Decorating with Color begins with an overview of color and how light, tone, and texture can affect color perception, continuing with well-written instructions on different paint techniques such as sponging and combing, with photos illustrating each step of the instructions. The Decorated Home is full of more advanced decorative paint projects and effects to decorate rooms, furniture, and decorative accessories, with the same well-written, step-by-step, illustrated instructions as found in Color. Both are recommended for public libraries. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
