Summary:
Buffalo blizzard relives the extraordinary, six-day storm that led President Carter to declare nine New York counties a federal disaster area--the first time in history that such a designation was made due to snow. Even for the winter-hardened residents of Buffalo, the Blizzard of '77 was unprecedented, and its fury and intensity brought the city to its knees. Here, residents recall how they made it through the storm--some stranded away from their homes, others snowbound within them--while rescue workers and emergency crews speak of their struggles to save people and get the city back on its feet.
