School Library Journal Review

Gr 1-5-These two series are identical in format, layout, and illustrations. "A Ticket to-" is for first through third graders; the "Globe-trotters Club" is aimed at a third-through-fifth grade audience. The choppy, occasionally generalized texts ("Vietnamese people like big families") cover basic information about geography, climate, people, lifestyles, and culture in double-page spreads. Sidebars add details. Numerous attractive and informative full-color photographs accompany each spread. Although there are some minor errors in the list of Vietnamese words and the further reading list for older children gives a wrong publication date, these are solid works for levels at which little else exists. While the "Globe-trotters Club" offers more specifics, need should determine purchase.-Diane S. Marton, Arlington County Library, VA (c) Copyright 2010.
