Booklist Review

Women's golf fans will enjoy browsing this superbly produced coffee-table book It's a bit pricey, and the text--short essays on the history of the LPGA, behind-the-scenes glimpses of life on tour, profiles of notable champions--is cursory at best, but these shortcomings pale beside the spectacular illustrations. Golf is perhaps the most photogenic of sports, and the selection of color and black-and-white images presented here shows why. Yes, there are numerous action shots of great women golfers across the eras (from Babe Didrikson Zaharias through Karrie Webb), but there are also stunning four-color spreads capturing the beauty of the links and evocative historical shots capturing the stars of earlier eras in their long skirts and matronly sweaters. Fans of the game will be impressed by the many superb swings on display here. Every sport deserves at least one good-looking coffee-table book, and this one fills the bill for women's golf. ^-Bill Ott
