Choice Review

Friedman, a litigation-support real estate consultant and author of more than 200 articles and 20 books, brings authority to this work. The dictionary offers over 7,500 definitions of key business and financial terms including 55 additional terms not in the 3rd edition (2000). New terms reflect recent business developments such as World Trade Organization (WTO) and voice over Internet protocol (VOIP). Common business terms omitted in previous editions are now included, such as EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). The appendix includes thousands of business-related abbreviations and acronyms, but the book would be more useful if all the terms in the appendix were added to the dictionary. The definitions are short, easy to understand, and cross-referenced to related terms. When necessary, illustrative diagrams and charts are included. Affordable, practical, and compact, this is a great resource for undergraduates or practitioners seeking quick definitions of business terms. It is available electronically from NetLibrary (CH, Jan'07, 44-2429). Summing Up: Recommended. All libraries. L. Camacho Brigham Young University
