Choice Review

Lawson and Garrod's useful work is intended for students who need concise definitions to assist them in their study of sociology. Entries usually run in length from a couple of sentences to a few paragraphs, depending on the authors' view of the significance of the term. Illustrations and tables are used sparingly to assist in understanding concepts. Cross-references are found in the body of entries or in parentheses at the end. When the authors cite the person who coined a term, they give only the last name; the entire name or a reference would be more helpful. Recommended as a useful resource for understanding the language of sociology. C. S. McGowan Fairfield University
