Booklist Review

Ea. vol.: Tr. by Jacqueline M. Cordova. 2000. 24p. Children's Press, $15. Ages 4-7. These new volumes in the Rookie espanol (Rookie Reader) series maintain the color illustrations, simple language, and predictable stories of the English versions. A little girl enjoys playing with cats in !Gatitos!; a boy does what the doctor asks him to do in Hola, doctor; and children use their hands for various activities as they prepare for a birthday party in Las manos. Useful word lists are included, though the definite articles, needed by beginning Spanish readers, are not provided.
