Publisher's Weekly Review

Schuller, son of Crystal Cathedral founder Robert H. Schuller, collaborates with chiropractor Di Siena to teach readers to "detoxify" their minds, bodies and spirits in an effort to achieve long, healthy lives. The two authors write alternate chapters, with Di Siena developing timely, substantive arguments about natural healing and Schuller rehashing stale self-help sermons with overused illustrations. Schuller espouses a Christian spirituality that seeks success and wellness; according to him, Jesus' parable of the sower "illustrates how important it is to plant seeds of successÄones that will produce a healthy and prosperous life." For his part, Di Siena strongly recommends chiropractic care that, he claims, not only sustains wellness but also "miraculously" heals everything from asthma to cancer. While his repeated testimonials about the wonders of chiropractic seem self-serving, Di Siena's thoughts about the spirit's healing power are helpful and similar to those of Andrew Weil. He echoes not only Weil but also many other health professionals when he admonishes readers to exercise regularly and to eat more fruits and vegetables and fewer processed foods (especially white flour and white sugar). Di Siena writes compellingly about these topics, as well as about his own gift of healing, and as such deserves his own book, not one in which his contributions are ancillary to Schuller's insipid health-and-wealth gospel.
