Booklist Review

Just when you think that all topics and styles have been explored and exploited in the matter of faux painting, British designer Colvin proves you wrong. In 21 patterns, she shows a breadth of decorating possibilities that cover large surfaces--walls, floors, and window substitutes. The paint is water-based; the techniques are fairly masterable by painting novices. The directions are more reliant on photographic step-by-step instructions than on words. A gallery of trace-off motifs makes the entire process seamless. --Barbara Jacobs
