Summary

Summary

Anne's mother and father had been the first farmers in Latsch Valley, in western Wisconsin. In 1876, when the story takes place, thirteen families live in the valley. Most had come from Poland, as had Anne's parents. Anna loved the farm and the valley she lived in, although she was expected to help with the many chores that kept the farm going. But Anna could not help dreaming of someday sailing across the sea to visit Poland, the romantic land of grand houses and castles. Anna's story is a true-to-life novel that begins Anne Pellowski's saga tracing five generations of her Polish American family
