Summary

Summary

This LP has several memorable vocalese performances. Eddie Jefferson and Irv Taylor are heard on four numbers (highlighted by "Strictly Instrumental" and "Start Walkin', Stop Talkin'") from 1953 and Joe Carroll (with the help of some of Dizzy Gillespie's sidemen) performs four songs of his own. However it is Annie Ross who steals the show of her six numbers, three ("Twisted," "Farmer's Market" and "Jackie") are classics that are heard here in their original versions; they are the main reasons to acquire this enjoyable album. ~ Scott Yanow
