Choice Review

"Chicano" is the term used by the publishers instead of "Latino" or "Hispanic," but this volume covers all writers who might fall under any of these ethnic identifiers. Libraries that lack a subscription to DBL but support study of contemporary writers in the US will want this volume. The printed version appears to have been released earlier than the online entries in Dictionary of Literary Biography for reasons not explained in either the printed or online version. DLB 209 follows the format of earlier volumes and gives critical attention to sometimes overlooked authors. Authors of the critical pieces for each writer are specialists who provide a crucial reference source for students or curious readers of all ages. D. R. Brown; DePaul University
