Booklist Review

Anna Carteret is a lovely, talented, but lonely artist working at a London publishing firm. When the president expresses his disapproval of her friendship with his son-in-law, she feels obligated to resign. At loose ends, she accepts her aunt's offer of a cabin retreat on the isolated but quaint Scilly Isles. The island residents, including the enigmatic and irresistible Hugo McKay, quickly make her acquaintance. Before long, Anna finds herself drawn to Hugo, despite his commitment to Judith, who has nasty plans of her own to keep Anna away. Never one to make a scene, Anna accepts her fate and returns discontentedly to London. Months later, she goes back for vacation with her dog, Ulysses, who leads her straight to the subject of her most sensuous thoughts and dreams. And this time Hugo is not going to let her get away so easily. Stewart's intelligent and delightful characters will charm readers seeking a straightforward, heartwarming romance. --Deborah Rysso
