Library Journal Review

As its title indicates, this charming little book is intended specifically for mothers who want to take better photographs of their families, notably their children. However, the book could appeal to anyone who likes to take photographs of family and friends. Written in a pleasant, conversational style, the text is organized into five basic chapters ("Portraits," "Props," "Candid Photos," "In the Great Outdoors," and "Group Photos") that encompass 75 specific tips. While the book does not include much in the way of technical advice, it does offer good, practical information for amateur photographers who would simply like to make better informal snapshots. The photographs of newborns, rowdy youngsters, and their parents effectively illustrate the author's suggestions. Appropriate for all libraries, especially public libraries that maintain photography collections for amateur shutterbugs.--Raymond Bial, Parkland Coll. Lib., Champaign, IL (c) Copyright 2010.
