Booklist Review

Gr. 2^-4. These accessible, nicely designed volumes in the Big Cats series feature close-up photos and facts about "great cats." The uncomplicated texts present factoids about everything from physical characteristics, habitats, and mating to the threat of endangerment. Middleton also dispels some misinformation--for example, the mistaken idea that jaguars often attack people. Photo captions provide tidbits that enhance the presentations. The books are interesting, easy-to-read, and pleasing to the eye as they focus on some of nature's wildlife treasures. Each includes pronunciation guides, a glossary, and a list of Web sites. --Kathleen Squires
