Booklist Review

It is more than good news when two of the most creative contemporary decorative artists collaborate. Fassett and Bahouth, both with many best-selling craft books to their credit, depart from their normal textile palette to seize on the ancient mosaicist's tools and techniques. Part of the charm lies in the duo's parade of inspirations from Howard Finster's Alabama shrine to the breathtaking Russian mosaic carpet atop Nureyev's Paris tomb. The other part of any reader's delight can be found in simply gazing at the 24 original projects, small frames to large country terraces, ready for the making. Color and design combine in unusual and startling patterns to create a swan urn and a transferware table, among other projects worthy of gracing any home, inside and out. Glossary appended. --Barbara Jacobs

Library Journal Review

Well known as a textile designer, Fassett here teams up with weaver and mosaicist Bahouth for a colorful venture into mosaic art. This book is valuable not so much as an instruction book but as an album showcasing their work. Good instructions are provided for some of their indoor and outdoor projects, but many craftspeople will no doubt use these as inspiration for their own projects. Suitable for arts and crafts collections. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
