Booklist Review

These four new collections of travel writings are the latest volumes in a series of anthologies that celebrates not only travel but also simply giving into the sense of adventure. These books are definitely of an armchair nature--not necessarily for taking along on trips, that is, but for reading beforehand or afterward. The first title underscores the "unique family travel thrill," while the second title focuses on one specific travel destination, the Grand Canyon, which is visited by five million people a year. The third title ushers the reader into the world of male adventure, all brass and bravery, and the fourth title sheds light on the distaff side of travel, which, of course, exhibits different agendas and mindsets from the "male" version of travel. Four books for all active travel literature collections. --Brad Hooper
