Booklist Review

Gr. 3^-5. Each of these books introduces the physical characteristics, behaviors, and habitats of several similar animals. Canines discusses certain wild canines living in North America: coyotes, foxes, and wolves. Giants looks at large freshwater mammals around the world, such as hippopotamuses, river dolphins, and manatees. Similar in format with wide margins, brief sidebars, and plenty of good, full-color photographs, the books look inviting. Appendixes include a glossary, lists of books, videos, and organizations, and the author's notes on how she approaches her research. Clearly written introductory information. --Carolyn Phelan
