Choice Review

Gray has provided very nice photographs of some common California birds. She has included a description of each bird, a section on the natural history of the bird, and a brief note telling when and where to see the bird depicted on the opposite page. Birds are presented according to habitat. There is a California map and a table of contents at the beginning of the book; at the end there is a list of California's birding hot spots, and brief notes on the author and the photographer. This book is recommended for its fine photography and would be an asset to observers interested in seeing some common birds in California. General readers; professionals. C. J.
