Booklist Review

Gr. 4-7. A 1932 Newbery Honor book, this story of a young French girl's experiences in America as a ``bound-out girl'' in the 1740s remains a compelling novel. In 1966 the book was redesigned and reissued with the original wood engravings by Allen Lewis and a new foreword by Ruth Hill Viguers, then editor of the Horn Book. That 1966 edition, long out of print, is available again, providing children with a story that should have continued appeal. BE. 66-19095
