Choice Review

Incorporating many of the peculiarities of a telephone directory, this directory will be for sports what any telephone directory is to its particular city. It has four main sections: "How to Use This Directory," an alphabetical section, a classified section, and an index to the classification. It contains more than 7,500 individual entries, with coverage from archery to wrestling. The listings include manufacturers, facilities, leagues, broadcast media, conferences, publications, and retailers from professional, intercollegiate, high school, and amateur sports. In both the alphabetical and classified sections, the listings contain such contact information as address; telephone, fax, and toll-free numbers; and World Wide Web and e-mail addresses. Because of its alphabetical arrangement, the directory is easy to use, and the editor has enhanced its functionality by using see and see also references. The inclusion of a sample entry and the use of an asterisk to denote publications further simplify the work's helpfulness. Although this information can be found in many places, this would be a useful resource for all libraries. O. C. Riley; Louisiana State University
