Library Journal Review

Resources for Rehabilitation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing information in the area of disabilities. This latest edition of its Living with Low Vision (the preceding edition appeared in 1990) is a comprehensive, informative reference focusing on resources for individuals with low vision. Published in a large-print (18 point bold type) format for easy reading, the book provides information on laws, self-help groups, reading materials, job information, aids such as computer software, and services specifically related to children, veterans, adolescents, and elders. Specific eye diseases are also discussed, and definitions are included as needed. In addition, publications and tapes currently available are listed at the end of each chapter along with an alphabetical listing of relevant national organizations that provide services to people with sight loss. Appendixes name state and Canadian agencies. No other complete resource guide exists listing information focusing on low vision, making this an invaluable tool for locating basic services to those with low vision or for families coping with vision loss.
