Summary

Summary

Sam McCall never anticipated murder when he worked for Utah state senator Maggie Hansen. Now, in her bid for one last term of office, a sensational murder rocks the campaign. Environmentalist Steve Tate is shot, and the senator's caustic brother is the prime suspect. Sam's primary objective is to get to the truth before his candidate loses the election in the fallout of suspicion and scandal.

Library Journal Review

The murder of a notorious environmentalist in Red Creek, UT, has serious political repercussions for U.S. Senator Maggie Hansen. Her campaign for reelection could be derailed by false public perceptions of Hansen involvement in the case: brother Leland, the sheriff, heads the murder investigation, while brother Vernon, an anti-environmentalist, pays for the suspected killer's lawyer. Maggie's campaign manager, narrator Sam McKall, sticks close by to monitor events and winds up in the dangerous center. Some mundane filler and a bit of uncharacteristic attitude on Sam's part at times, but not bad for a first novel. For larger libraries. (c) Copyright 2010.
