Summary

Summary

What do Lucy Jane Bledsoe, Nisa Donnelly, Jewelle Gomez, Judith Katz, Randye Lordon, Linda Nelson, Elisabeth Nonas, Cecilia Tan, Carla Trujillo, Kitty Tsui, and Jess Wells have in common? These eleven dynamic storytellers were first brought together in To Be Continued... (published last Fall) when their stories fantasy and reality, the near past and far future, contemporary lesbian life and escapist encounters -- left readers hanging at the proverbial cliff's edge clamoring for more. Now here they are once again in To Be Continued: Take Two, picking up where they stopped six months ago without missing a beat, spinning tales to their often unpredictable conclusions. And if you hurry, you can still enter the That's All She Wrote contest and try to guess how your favorite story ends. Those coming closest will receive a Firebrand gift certificate and an autographed copy of To Be Continued: Take Two. Contest information is available on the Firebrand website www.firebrandbooks.com and in each copy of To Be Continued....

Summary

This volume takes up where the first volume left off, by bringing together the same 11 dynamic storytellers to bring their tales of fantasy and reality, near past and far future, contemporary lesbian life and escapist encounters to often unexpected conclusions.

Booklist Review

Everyone, it seems, loves a good cliff-hanger, the kind that keeps us turning pages until the wee hours. Accordingly, editors Karlsberg and Tulchinsky pick up where they left off in To Be Continued . . . [BKL N 1 98], giving us the next episode of serial stories by 11 acclaimed lesbian authors, including Lucy Jane Bledsoe, Jewell Gomez, Jess Wells, and Judith Katz. Despite the stories' supposed-to-be suspense-filled nonendings, Karlsberg and Tulchinsky insist the tales can stand on their own. Well, maybe, for isn't the ultimate payoff of a cliff-hanger an emotionally satisfying resolution, after all? Denied that this time, will readers be content with the adrenaline of ongoing uncertainty and tune in next time for more of these implicitly larger works? At any rate, the authors must be commended for their audacity in presenting these gripping narratives in such widely spaced installments. Whitney Scott
