Library Journal Review

Loaded with facts and figures, this entry into the new car buyers guide category may be more than most casual shoppers need, but it is perfect for libraries. Every make and model currently for sale in the United States is included here with complete product descriptions, new features, safety ratings, insurance, specifications, and pricing information, including dealer invoice costs. This large book is designed for homeworki.e., planning a shopping excursionrather than as a field guide. This differentiates it clearly from Jack Gilliss The Car Book 1999 (HarperCollins), which your library very likely owns. The Car Book 1999 is small enough to take along when shopping and is less expensive, but it does not include as much information as the Road Report 1999. Most importantly, the Road Report will have lasting relevance as a reference source for enthusiasts, used-car shoppers of the future, and historians. An excellent reference tool that will have continued valuesomething most buyers guides lack.Eric C. Shoaf, Brown Univ. Lib., Providence, RI (c) Copyright 2010.
