Library Journal Review

Redfield, a writer of visionary fiction, offers a personal account of her experience with the beings commonly called aliens. Using fable, allegory, parable, and poetry to discuss her abduction, she acknowledges that her Mormon background may have influenced her perception of extraordinary experiencesÄsome UFOlogists believe that Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon church, was an alien contactee. Redfield is aware of what she calls delusional experiences but after intensive therapy and hypnotic regression feels confident enough to share her story. Some readers will doubtless find it too heavy or fanciful; others will be intrigued by Redfield's provocative statements and questioning of human history, though parts of the text are difficult to follow. She will appeal to those who believe that the media and the scientific world censor alien encounter stories; anyone looking for more than a personal story may be disappointed. Recommended for collections trying to offer all approaches to the question of alien encounters.ÄLeroy Hommerding, Citrus Cty. Lib. Sys., Inverness, FL (c) Copyright 2010.
