Summary

Summary

The DAR ladies are back - in Robert Landrum's continuation of his late father, Graham's, delightful series. When Mrs. Marguerite Claymore, a noted horticulturist and society leader, is discovered bludgeoned to death in her own backyard, a simple robbery is suspected. But when a series of unsolved robberies are linked to Marguerite's death, sharp-minded octogenarian Harriet Bushrow and company are brought to the scene.

Booklist Review

With the death of Graham Landrum, son Robert assisted with the completion of the elder Landrum's unfinished book in an enjoyable series of mysteries featuring the DAR ladies. Most delightful of all, perhaps, is the very elderly, though quick-witted, Harriet Bushrow, who in this latest intrigue finds herself called upon once again to help capture the culprits, when a member of the Buena Vista Garden Club is found murdered. Coupled with this is a string of home invasions where the burglars walk away with plenty of silver and jewels, so Harriet and a disarmingly beguiling cast of characters have their work cut out for them. Thankfully, explaining the mysterious death and concurrent robberies culminates in a most savory solution; as tasty as a light luncheon served up by the DAR ladies themselves. --Alice Joyce
