Booklist Review

Much in the Kronhausens' revision of their 1989 success is readily available elsewhere, yet there are some useful new features, for example, interviews with researchers doing such things as testing chemicals commonly used to treat cancer against each patient's cells to determine dosages that better match individual needs and using cryosurgery to treat prostate cancer. Most of the book deals, as before, with nutritional supplements and how they work. Believing that prevention is more important than treatment or cure, the Kronhausens recommend one or more supplements for a variety of diseases and medical problems. They reveal what doses of what supplements they themselves take and, halfway through the book, comment that some may wonder when they find the time to take them all. Their response is that the core of supplements they take daily is small and that they take the others only when they need to adjust to the differing climates of their homes in New York and Costa Rica or to deal with special conditions. --William Beatty
