Morris (a writer for the accounting firm Friedman, Eisenstein, Raemer, and Schwarts) provides brief definitions and explanations for approximately 2,000 acronyms used in accounting reports and publications in the US and other countries. Terms are drawn from accounting, banking, finance and investing, management, real estate, and statistics. For each term not used in the US, the definition indicates the country of origin or use. Definitions include financial and statistical formulae and addresses of organizations, as appropriate. Included are common acronyms like GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and PITI (Principal, Interest, Taxes and Insurance), as well as many that are less common. General business and accounting dictionaries include many of the same acronyms, but no other source has as many as Morris's. A very specialized source, recommended for large accounting collections.
