School Library Journal Review

YA‘A trip through the human body via astounding photographs with interesting text as a guide. Written for the layperson, this wonderful resource traces human growth, anatomy, and physiology at all stages of life, sick or healthy. The engaging, easy-to-read text is arranged in chapters on body origins, systems, defenses, the brain, aging, and the future. This interesting topical approach brings together a great deal of information about medical biology without being dry or overly technical. Very current, the resource includes many of the innovative, developing breakthroughs that are in the news daily. By raising related issues, the narration ties together biology, history, and social science. Browsers will be drawn to the fantastic photography that shows the latest techniques such as microphotography, MRIs, and sonography. The body is explored inside and out through accurate, unique illustrations not often seen by high school students.‘Gary Fillmore, W. T. Woodson High School, Fairfax, VA (c) Copyright 2010.
