Booklist Review

Clay is as elemental as earth and as sophisticated as an elegant, leaf-patterned serving bowl. In their first collaboration, Wisconsin claymeisters Alexander and Bogart open their ideas, artistry, and techniques to the world at large. Not much prefatory material precedes the two dozen projects; presented are a glossary of colors and a glossary of techniques, terms, and tools. After that, a riot of imagination occurs--including a ready-to-hide-secrets floral box, knobs that delight as well as pull or push, and curtain tiebacks decorated with a flourish. Directions are adequate, though somewhat cramped in presentation. A book of practical possibilities. --Barbara Jacobs
