School Library Journal Review

Gr 3-5-In a conversational tone, the authors explore what a book report is, how to choose a title, writing preliminary and final drafts, giving an oral presentation, the importance of the library in finding material, and other aspects of this common assignment. Using specific titles such as Jamie Gilson's 4B Goes Wild, the authors give examples of book reports, making suggestions about what to include and how to avoid common pitfalls. Much less detailed and sophisticated than Harry Teitelbaum's How to Write Book Reports (Macmillan, 1982; o.p.), this practical manual is a step-by-step "school survival guide."-Carol Schene, Taunton Public Schools, MA (c) Copyright 2010.
