Library Journal Review

Vederman (The Best Places To Meet Good Men, Prima, 1991) eschews promoting the usual vacation that leaves you with little to show for the investment in time and money. Instead, she profiles vacation sites designed to transform the reader in a meaningful and permanent way. From holistic health and yoga to wilderness canoe trips to art therapy and spiritual retreats, Lederman highlights a wide variety of opportunities to experience rejuvenation of body, mind, and spirit. Some of the possibilities she explores include international organizations such as the Language Studies International and Zen Mountain Monastery; spiritual retreat centers, including the Goddess Tour to Malta and Pendle Hill, a Quaker study center; and self-improvement vacations at the National Outdoor Leadership School. Each entry includes a general profile of the sponsoring organization, examples of previous activities, a brief description of accommodations, an estimate of cost, and address and phone numbers. Recommended for travel and personal-growth collections.-Janine A. Reid, Jefferson Cty. P.L., Lakewood, Col. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
